The USC Sirens were formed in October of 1997 by Brock Harris. Connie Chung (President 1997-1998) is credited with naming the Sirens. In Greek and Roman mythology, mythical creatures called Sirens used their voices to lure sailors to their deaths. When you come to our shows, refrain from bringing wax for your ears or twine to tie yourself to the mast.
Our first year was very busy: from performing at SCAM Fest to the International Championship of Collegiate A Cappella. Since then, the Sirens have hosted TONS of groups: Tuft's Beelzebubs, Duke's Men of Yale, Yale Alley Cats, Stanford Mendicants, Counterpoint and Fleetstreet, Brandeis Voicemale, Boston University Dear Abbeys, Harvard Krokodiloes, Berkeley Artists in Resonance, MIT Logarhythms, The Brown Derbies, the Brown Bear Necessities, the University of Virginia Hullabahoos and many more.
The Sirens have been hired to perform at many venues, including the Popovich Dedication Ceremony, President Sample's private Homecoming party, singing the national anthem at an L.A. Kings and the USC hockey games, CityWalk at Universal Studios, the Gene Autry Museum; not to mention our occasional romps at the Third Street Promenade!
Sirens have appeared on BOCA (Best of Collegiate A Cappella) for 7 years in a row.
